On September 15, a new federal rule will replace duration of status (D/S) with fixed periods of stay for F-1 and J-1 visa holders. Cornell immigration experts will explain how the rule may affect students, J-1 faculty and staff, alumni on OPT and OPT STEM, dependents, and the administrators who support them.
They'll also address recent federal guidance on F-1 Curricular Practical Training (CPT), including what it may mean for internships and other curriculum-related work experiences.
The panel will share Cornell’s current understanding, discuss steps community members may wish to take, and answer questions.
