Designer Mimi Prober’s signature clothing collections are based on “honoring the hands that created the art” — crafting what WWD described as “a zero-waste, closed-loop system that embodies ‘sustainable luxury.’” In an increasingly disposable world, Ms. Prober combines antique materials with natural luxury fibers and dye methods to create sustainable modern heirlooms.
Join us for this webinar, an intimate gallery conversation with Mimi Prober and Tasha Lewis, associate professor in Cornell University’s Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design. Ms. Prober, the department’s 2021 Designer-in-Residence, is guided by a design philosophy built on four sustainability pillars: preservation, farm-to-fiber, ethical production, and community engagement. Together, Dr. Lewis and Ms. Prober will explore the influence of these pillars on Ms. Prober’s entrepreneurial and creative vision; techniques; and support for local, artisan-based supply chains.
