Drop/Transfer Policy
eCornell Retake Policy:
For any program not completed, if you wish to retake one or more courses within your certificate program, there will be a retake fee of $75 per course.* To request a retake, please contact ec_helpdesk@cornell.edu.
*Please note: other programs, including, but not limited to, Executive Presence, may have higher fees.
Prepaid Certificate Program Drop/Transfer Policy
- Drop – You may request to drop out of your prepaid certificate program and receive a full refund if your drop request is received within 30 days of registration.* No refund will be given after 30 days for a prepaid certificate program. All drop requests must be made by email to ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.
- Transfer – If you initiate the process no later than 5 pm ET of the Friday after course begins (Day 3), you may request to transfer to a different start date.
- Log in to your eCornell “Student Portal.”
- Click on the “Enrollment History” link.
- Under “Current Courses” click the “Change Section” link next to the appropriate course title.If you do not see an option to “Change Section” or if you have any difficulty, please contact the Student Support team at ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.
- *Please note this policy does not apply to the PHR Prep Certificate.
Single Course Purchase and Payment Plan Drop/Transfer Policy
- Drop – Students are allowed to drop out of a single course purchase or Pay as You Go payment option and receive a full refund for the cost of the course, as long as the course has not yet begun. (Note that a course will be considered started at 12:01am ET the date the course is scheduled to begin). All drop requests must be made by email to ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.
- Transfer – If you initiate the process no later than 5 pm ET of the Friday after course begins (Day 3), you may request to transfer to a different start date.
- Log in to your eCornell “Student Portal.”
- Click on the “Enrollment History” link.
- Under “Current Courses” click the “Change Section” link next to the appropriate course title.If you do not see an option to “Change Section” or if you have any difficulty, please contact the Student Support team at ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.

Organizational Partner Drop/Transfer Policy*
- The terms and conditions of the drop and transfer policies are agreed to between eCornell and the Organizational Partner Client. If you wish to drop or transfer out of a course please follow the steps below.
- Drop – If a student is requesting to drop out of a course the request must be made prior to the start of the course. Please note that all courses are considered started at 12:01am Eastern Time (US) of the course start date. All drop requests must be made by email to ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.
- Transfer – If you initiate the process no later than 5 pm ET of the Friday after course begins (Day 3), you may request to transfer to a different start date.
- Log in to your eCornell “Student Portal.”
- Click on the “Enrollment History” link.
- Under “Current Courses” click the “Change Section” link next to the appropriate course title.If you do not see an option to “Change Section” or if you have any difficulty, please contact the Student Support team at ec_droptransfer@cornell.edu.
- *Please be advised that your transfer opportunity is only eligible within the timeframe that your organizational agreement/contract is valid.
- *Please note this policy only applies to students who have registered through their organization’s registration portal.
- Policies can vary by organizational partner.
