In the last 30 years, researchers have discovered more than 4,500 planets orbiting stars other than our sun. Yet despite this remarkable progress, the big questions remain: How commonplace is the solar system? How many other Earths might be out there? And do any of them host life?

In this webcast, Cornell University professor Dmitry Savransky takes us on an interstellar journey to discover life on other planets in our universe. An expert in the detection and characterization of exoplanets, Dr. Savransky will discuss existing and new methods for understanding these faraway planets. Join us to discover how advances in direct imaging and upcoming space missions are driving technology development towards building a next-generation “great observatory” that will transform the field of planetary science.
