Over the last decade, some emerging markets have witnessed astounding growth, while others have struggled with stagnation and underdevelopment. More recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has unraveled some of the progress made by developing countries around the world, particularly impacting those with a weaker healthcare infrastructure. So how can one compare the growth of countries in different regions with distinct cultures, governments, and geopolitical situations? Members of the research team from Cornell Johnson’s Emerging Markets Institute will discuss what constitutes an emerging market and the various metrics through which we can view development. This event is co-sponsored by the Emerging Markets Institute and the Cornell China Center.
