Who will be inaugurated as America’s next president on January 20, 2025? Until Election Day, there will be hundreds and thousands of predictions. These predictions typically analyze factors like historical voting patterns, demographic trends, and political endorsements.
Yet factors like voter turnout, campaign strategies, and grassroots mobilization efforts can significantly impact election outcomes. The complexity of predicting human behavior and the influence of last-minute developments mean that even the most sophisticated models can only estimate probabilities rather than certainties. With this in mind, no one knows the future — but we can get close!
During this Keynote, join Peter Enns, a professor in the Department of Government in the Cornell College of Arts & Sciences and the Director of the Center for Social Sciences, who was able to predict the winner of 49 of 50 states in the last election cycle. Professor Enns will break down what factors he uses when drafting his prediction and what his data tells us about this year’s election.
