Artificial intelligence has created new opportunities — but also new dangers — for those in the entertainment industry. Through the use of AI, dead rappers can perform new songs and Hollywood legends can appear in new films. AI allows producers to populate their films and TV shows with human-looking avatars that act and sound like human beings. Around 20,000 AI-generated recordings are uploaded to the music streaming app Deezer each day.
In this modern age, where it can be cheaper, faster, and easier to use AI-generated sounds and images, how are we to protect human creation and human integrity?
Join Howard Leib, Cornell Law School Adjunct Professor of Entertainment Law and Music Law and author of eCornell’s new “Entertainment Law” certificate, in conversation with Monika Mason, business consultant and Course Director for Entrepreneurship in the Audio Industry at Full Sail University, and actress, director, podcaster, and producer Jillian Clare, who is also a member of the SAG-AFTRA Board of Directors. Our panel will discuss the current state of AI in the entertainment industry, the likely future, and how we can regulate and control this new technology.
