People with criminal records are often denied employment because of discrimination and face added disadvantages related to employment history, education, skills, and career capital gaps. Employers and job seekers need new tools to replace decades-old hiring heuristics that are both inefficient and inequitable.
Join us for an insightful conversation on enhancing HR hiring practices for marginalized workers, particularly those with criminal records. Christine Lovely, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Cornell, will share her dedication to inclusive hiring and breaking down employment barriers. Host Timothy McNutt, along with guests Matt Saleh and Jodi Anderson Jr. from the Criminal Justice and Employment Initiative at ILR’s Center for Applied Research on Work, will explore strategies to help employers view applicants beyond the lenses of risk and liability.
