Over the past decade, natural language processing (NLP) has emerged as a rapidly expanding area of artificial intelligence, proving to be a valuable tool for processing language-based data.
For example, NLP helps a computer translate the foreign text on a vacation destination website, thus allowing a consumer to better understand a native perspective. NLP can also rapidly review existing scientific research papers to cross-reference and interpret language-based data sets, which may aid in discovering new insights and innovations in much less time than traditional research methods. In short, NLP can help computers not only read and transcribe text but also understand it.
Join us as we welcome Oleg Melnikov, Ph.D., as he walks us through the real-world applications of natural language processing. Dr. Melnikov has decades of experience in mathematical and statistical research, databases, and software development. Dr. Melnikov has also taught statistics, machine learning, and programming at eCornell, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Rice University, and UC Irvine.
