Our globally connected digital ecosystem is under constant attack by bad actors seeking to create or exploit hardware and software vulnerabilities and penetrate system defenses, so on March 1 of this year, the White House released a broadly conceived national cybersecurity strategy. The goal of this strategy is to promote and implement robust measures designed to detect, resist, and repel the attacks of 21st-century adversaries, whether they are nation-states or illegal enterprises seeking ransoms or attempting to misappropriate valuable data and information. Effective user actions like strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and abiding by sound security measures are essential to resisting harmful attacks such as the Colonial Pipeline incident that led to regional gasoline shortages and costly price hikes.
