Fintech is all around us. From electronic transfers and digital stock exchanges to cryptocurrencies, AI-driven neural networks, and cashless societies, fintech’s evolution continues at a rapid pace. But this is just the beginning.
With economic data science becoming more relevant by the day, 2021 looks poised to be fintech’s breakout year. This sector will affect business and the social sciences alike, providing dynamic advancements in machine learning, raising new privacy concerns, offering new consumer fraud protection and financial inclusion, and more.
In this live online event, Will Cong, Faculty Director of Fintech at Cornell: an Initiative of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, will host a panel of fintech experts and share an overview of the initiative’s network of academic and industry collaborators. The forward-focused conversation will feature a variety of fintech perspectives, including Professor Pamela Moulton, who conducts groundbreaking research on consumer fraud detection and prevention, and Peter Balnaves, who designs and leads unique and diverse student projects in the Fintech program. David Ehrich, ‘85, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Alliance for Innovative Regulation, will bring an entrepreneurial and policy perspective, backed by his decades of experience. Will Cong will also share an overview of Fintech at Cornell’s network, aiming to expand direct connections between business innovation, groundbreaking research, and immersive student education. College Deputy Dean and Dean of Academic Affairs Andrew Karolyi, Harold Bierman, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Management, will introduce this by-invitation-only event.
Fintech at Cornell gratefully acknowledges Moody's Fiserv, and Tata Consulting Services, who have made fintech a priority through their generous sponsorship.
