According to a recent report by the International Energy Agency, global investment in renewable energy needs to triple by 2030 if we want to effectively fight climate change and create a sustainable, less volatile energy market. The evolution of energy resources, generation, and consumption methods, however, hasn’t yet proven to be reliable and resilient. In this context, could natural gas have the potential to be an efficient and cleaner alternative?

In this webcast, a panel of energy experts will explore how natural gas could play a vital role in developing energy accessibility for economies and support decarbonization efforts worldwide.

This is the first session of the 2021 Cornell Energy Connection (CEC), Cornell’s premier energy event, being held virtually in November and December. The conference features panel discussions on key issues impacting the sector, including energy transition, decarbonization, and the impact government and investors have on the future of clean power supply. CEC is hosted by the SC Johnson College of Business Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise (CSGE) and the Cornell Energy Club.
  • The outlook for natural gas demand in the next five to ten years
  • The current relevance of natural gas as an energy resource, for decarbonization efforts, and to the overall transition to cleaner energy
  • Types of natural gas infrastructure projects and their viability in modern energy economies
  • The role of governments and private companies to increase the asset efficiency of natural gas, optimally using it in ways to make a positive environmental and social impact
