Angela Mwanza is Senior Vice President and private wealth advisor for UBS Private Wealth Management’s Evergreen Wealth Management team, serving clients across the U.S. and Canada. She has over 19 years of experience advising families on sophisticated investment strategies to manage risk, liquidity, and socially responsible and impact investments where appropriate. Ms. Mwanza also has unique experience with family business succession in planning, governance, legacy, and intergenerational wealth planning, as well as impactful philanthropy. She is currently a member of the Social Investment Forum and the Economic Club of New York, and serves on multiple boards. Ms. Mwanza recently joined the Board of Directors of Jumia, a for-profit e-commerce platform operating in Africa; she is also a Trustee of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation; a board director of Grace Farms Foundation, Grassroot Soccer, and the Global Health Alliance; and a founding member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneurs Council. She holds an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Konstanz, Germany. As an alumna, Ms. Mwanza has maintained a distinguished commitment to Cornell Johnson. She’s active in the Cornell Trustee Alumni Network and Entrepreneurship@Cornell, and she was selected for two alumni awards from Cornell Johnson: the 2007 Wilbur Parker Distinguished Award for African-American Alumni and the 2019 Robert J. Swieringa Alumni Service Award.

John Tobin-de la Puente is a Professor of Practice at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. He is also Director of the CEMS international MBA program as well as the Director of the Grand Challenges at Dyson program. Professor Tobin is an ecologist and attorney with over two decades of private sector experience, having worked in the international finance industry for much of his career.
Following a decade of corporate legal practice in the area of emerging markets finance, while actively providing counsel on environmental conservation matters on a pro bono basis, Professor Tobin turned his full attention toward the growing area of corporate sustainability, becoming Managing Director and Global Head of Sustainability at Credit Suisse. In this position, he pioneered a variety of initiatives and policies aimed at setting the finance industry on a more sustainable course.
In 2016, Professor Tobin transitioned into a faculty position at Cornell University, where he teaches corporate sustainability, environmental and social risk management, impact investing, environmental finance, and related topics to undergraduates and graduate students in business and public affairs. His research focuses on the use of financial tools to generate positive outcomes in the areas of sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
In addition, Professor Tobin actively engages with industry and civil society to develop financial solutions to sustainability problems, including as co-founder of the Coalition for Private Investment in Conservation (CPIC). Professor Tobin has extensive leadership and governance experience in not-for-profit entities at the board level, particularly in the areas of environment, science, and education.
Mark W. Nelson is the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean and Professor of Accounting at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Dean Nelson’s research examines psychological and economic factors that influence how people make decisions with financial information; interpret and apply accounting, auditing, and tax regulations; and trade in financial markets. His research has been published widely in both accounting and psychology journals, and acknowledged with the AAA’s Notable Contribution to Accounting Literature Award, the AAA’s Wildman Medal, AJPT’s inaugural Best Paper Award, and the Johnson School’s Faculty Research Award. Dean Nelson’s teaching has focused on intermediate financial accounting and financial reporting, as well as judgment and decision making in accounting. He has received ten teaching awards at Cornell and Ohio State, including the American Accounting Association’s inaugural Cook Prize for graduate teaching excellence. Dean Nelson is a co-author (with Spiceland and Thomas) of “Intermediate Accounting” and has served three terms as an editor of the Accounting Review as well as four years on the FASB’s Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council.
