Swasti Pachauri is a policy and governance expert with professional experience in management consulting, academia, and the public sector. Her work focuses on women in agriculture, women-led small enterprises, and craft-based livelihoods. Dr. Pachauri teaches for both the undergraduate and the MPA program at the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy.
Dr. Pachauri received her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Delhi; M.A. in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; and B.A. in Economics from the University of Delhi. She was a fellow in the Prime Minister’s Rural Development Programme with the Government of India, where she spent two years in rural Madhya Pradesh in India. Dr. Pachauri also worked extensively with the local government of the capital city of Delhi in India. The author of a book on Indian arts and handicrafts, she regularly writes essays for the Indian Express and Down to Earth and has a forthcoming book on public policy titled “Diving Deep.”
