Alexander Colvin, Ph.D., ’99, is the Kenneth F. Kahn ’69 Dean and the Martin F. Scheinman ’75, M.S. ’76, Professor of Conflict Resolution at Cornell University’s ILR School.

Dean Colvin’s research and teaching focuses on employment dispute resolution, with a particular emphasis on procedures in non-union workplaces and the impact of the legal environment on organizations. His current research projects include empirical investigations of employment arbitration and cross-national analysis of labor law and dispute resolution. Dean Colvin is the co-author of “An Introduction to U.S. Collective Bargaining and Labor Relations” (with T. Kochan and H. Katz) and of “Arbitration Law “( with K. Stone and R. Bales).

Dean Colvin received his J.D. in 1992 from the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in 1999 from Cornell University. He received the 2003 Outstanding Young Scholar Award from the Industrial Relations Research Association (IRRA) and the 2000 Best Dissertation Award from the IRRA for his dissertation entitled “Citizens and Citadels: Dispute Resolution and the Governance of Employment Relations.” Before joining the faculty of the ILR School, Dean Colvin taught at Penn State University from 1999 to 2008.

Based in Jakarta, Anne Patricia Sutanto is vice CEO of PT. Pan Brothers, Indonesia’s largest garment manufacturer, which supplies to numerous global brands and has approximately 34,000 employees across 25 factories in Java Island, Indonesia.

Born into a business family with interests in logging and the integrated wood industry, Ms. Sutanto joined PT. Pan Brothers Tbk in 1997. In 2015, she was featured as one of the most powerful women in Asia by Forbes Asia.

Ms. Sutanto is active in many industry organizations, including the Indonesian Textile Association, serving as its vice chairman of international relations and foreign trade. She is on the advisory board of the ILR School’s New Conversations Project, focused on sustainable labor practices in global supply chains.

Ms. Sutanto holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California and an MBA specializing in finance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Currently, she is studying for a Bachelor’s degree in law at the University of Indonesia.

Duncan Scott is senior vice president of Strategic Sourcing and Quality for New Balance, a leading manufacturer of branded athletic footwear, apparel, and equipment since 1906.

Now based in Boston, Mr. Scott started his career in the industry in 1986 and has held global leadership roles in footwear and apparel sourcing and manufacturing in Korea, Taiwan, China, Brazil, and Hong Kong. He was country manager for China for Reebok and head of Global Footwear Sourcing for Adidas before joining New Balance in 2010.

Mr. Scott has been active in corporate social responsibility roles during his career and has represented New Balance since 2017 in the Industry Summit initiative, a coalition of 16 global brands focused on social and environmental issues. He is a 1981 graduate of Cornell University, where he was an English major in the College of Arts & Sciences and a member of Men’s Track & Field.
