Camonghne Felix is a poet, writer, speaker, and political strategist. She received an M.A. in Arts Politics from NYU and an MFA from Bard College, and she has received fellowships from Cave Canem, Callaloo, and Poets House. Formerly the Director of Surrogates and Strategic Communications at Elizabeth Warren for President, Ms. Felix is the VP of Strategic Communications at Blue State. Her first full-length collection of poems, ”Build Yourself a Boat,” was long-listed for the 2019 National Book Award in Poetry and a finalist for the PEN Open Book Award and the Lambda Literary Award in Bisexual Poetry. Ms. Felix’s forthcoming collection of poems, ”Dyscalculia,” and essay collection, ”Let the Poets Govern,” are forthcoming from One World, an imprint of Penguin Random House. Her work has been published in BuzzFeed, Poetry Magazine, Apogee, The Offing, the Academy of American Poets website, and more.

Poet, writer, and political strategist Camonghne Felix will read from her work in the fourth virtual event in the Spring 2021 Barbara & David Zalaznick Reading Series: Together.
Ms. Felix will share selections from her poetry collection “Build Yourself a Boat” and offer sneak peeks of her forthcoming poetry collection “Dyscalculia” and essay collection “Let the Poets Govern.” The reading will be followed by a live Q&A, moderated by Cornell associate professor Lyrae Van Clief-Stefanon.
Each semester, writers ranging from debut poets to internationally renowned authors visit the Cornell campus as part of the Zalaznick Reading Series. Sponsored by the Zalaznick family and hosted by the Creative Writing Program, this series has educated and entertained students and the broader Cornell community alike. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring 2021 edition of the series has gone virtual, so from the intimacy of their homes to ours, a lineup of renowned writers will share their work.
