Vera Chau

Professor Vera Chau is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business. She earned her Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Her research examines corporate finance and innovation, with particular interest in how financial intermediation and market frictions shape capital investment, innovative activity, and technology adoption. She also studies the role of intermediaries in mortgage markets and household borrowing. Professor Chau teaches courses in financial markets and corporate finance and has previously taught courses in asset pricing.

Prior to joining Cornell, she was an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Geneva and the Swiss Finance Institute. Before her doctoral studies, she worked as a research professional in real estate finance at Columbia University and as an analyst in a boutique investment bank specializing in private placements for public firms in the energy sector.
