Immigration has long been a hot-button topic in the U.S., and the current political environment has intensified the feelings on both sides. While political opponents may disagree on the issues, and even on the basic question of whether immigration helps or hurts America, most would agree that our current immigration system is not working.
President Trump famously campaigned on building a wall at the border of Mexico as well as banning Muslim immigrants, and since taking office his administration has enacted several steps to restrict legal immigration. What is likely to happen to U.S. immigration policies after the election? Is there any hope that legislation to effectively address our problems will actually see the light of day?
In this discussion, law professor and immigration attorney Stephen Yale-Loehr will explain what’s wrong with our current immigration system and what you can do to help fix it.
