Advanced materials are materials that are intentionally designed to have new or enhanced properties. Developments in theoretical understanding, synthesis techniques, and characterization tools now allow materials to be designed “from the atoms up.” Such purpose-built materials can outperform naturally occurring materials, and advanced industrial materials have become a vital component of the high-tech economy.
In this presentation, you’ll hear from Frank Wise, director of the Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR), and see demonstrations of CCMR facilities. Professor Wise will help us understand the basics of advanced materials and how they are being used by industry today.
If you are a New York State manufacturer, you can also learn more by registering for the 2024 Manufacturing Readiness Accelerator Cohort through New York State’s Advanced Materials Manufacturing Initiative.
