Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes eCornell unique?
A: eCornell courses are different than other online learning because of the small class size, the course project will promote application of learning, and the opportunity to interact with an instructor and your fellow students.
Q: What is the course format?
A: Asynchronous.
eCornell courses are 100% online. Most of the courses are two weeks long, however, there are some 3 week long courses. Within that time, you can work at your own pace, moving through the material and completing assignments as your schedule allows. There is no specific time you will be required to be on-line. The total time you will need to complete a course will vary. You can expect to spend ~5 hours a week working on your course.
Q: What is the workload like?
A: The workload will vary from course to course but based on survey results we have collected you will need approximately 8-10 hours total to complete a two-week course. The courses consist of several different elements including, but not limited to, pre-recorded videos, case studies, and tools to help you apply the concepts to your work. Course assignments could include discussion participation, quizzes and course projects.
Q: Can I do my course work at any time?
A: During your course, you are able to access the material at any time. We do have some courses that will require your attention on a regular basis. Be sure to review the assignment due dates at the start of your course.
Q: Who is the facilitator?
A: Courses are authored by Cornell University faculty, designed in collaboration with eCornell’s instructional designers. Instruction/interaction during your course is provided by our staff of facilitators who are industry experts.
