Application Instructions For The Coabe Scholarship Program
- Eligibility: This scholarship program is available exclusively to COABE current adult learners and graduates within five years of completing their program. See below for full eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria
The COABE program scholarship is intended specifically for individuals who are currently enrolled in — or have attended within the past five (5) years — a state-recognized adult education program that is a COABE member.
Eligible adult education programs include GED® preparation, HiSET preparation, Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
To qualify, applicants must:

Currently attend or have attended within the past five (5) years a COABE member adult education program

Have completed high school (diploma) or earned a GED® credential
(Individuals who completed high school outside the U.S. and are enrolled in adult education for English language instruction may qualify.)

Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English

Demonstrate a commitment to completing the program

Be economically insecure (at or near the poverty line)
Please note: Individuals who completed high school through a traditional pathway and are not enrolled in adult education do not qualify under this scholarship.
