Dr. Léna Crain (she/her) serves as Associate Dean of Students at Bucknell University, where she provides leadership for student wellness-related programs and services, including student health, counseling, nutrition services, interpersonal violence prevention and advocacy, and student conduct and conflict resolution. Dr. Crain is a frequent trainer and speaker on restorative justice, conflict resolution skill building, and cultural dimensions of conflict. In her broader career in higher education, she has been recognized by ACPA as a Diamond Honoree and Annuit Coeptis Scholar. Dr. Crain earned her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.

This keynote will explore the proactive and responsive approaches student affairs professionals and administrators can utilize to build restorative communities, maintain relationships, and repair harm on campuses.

Dr. Patience Whitworth serves as Associate Vice Provost for Operations and Strategic Initiatives for the Office of the Provost at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She supports day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives and provides oversight to the Student Academic Success Center. First joining Carnegie Mellon as the Director of the Office of the Vice Provost for Education, Dr. Whitworth served on the accreditation leadership team; oversaw the new academic program process; and coordinated academic leadership efforts to support diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as student success.
Previously, Dr. Whitworth was the Assistant Dean of students in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Vermont (UVM). Prior to UVM, she served as Assistant Director of Student Life Research and Planning at The Ohio State University. Dr. Whitworth’s current research focuses on the application of restorative practices in higher education.
Vin J. Ciampolillo (he/him/his) currently serves as Associate Director in the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) at Cornell University. Mr. Ciampolillo’s primary responsibilities include oversight of informal resolution and restorative justice programs along with assessment, including overall program effectiveness and measurement of behavioral trends and student learning. He also served as a faculty member for the 2022 Gehring Academy for Restorative Justice. In addition, Mr. Ciampolillo serves as a mediator for New York State through the Community Dispute Resolution Center (CDRC) in Tompkins County.
