The Cornell University Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) is a part-time, fully online undergraduate degree administered by Cornell University’s School of Continuing Education (SCE).
Designed for adults who want to complete their degree without putting their life on hold, the BPS combines flexible scheduling, meaningful engagement with university faculty, and a focus on mastering critical skills for the 21st century.

Eligibility Snapshot
To be eligible to apply:
- You must be at least four years beyond high school or secondary school graduation
- You must have earned 45 to 60 transferable college credits from a regionally accredited institution. (Please note that dual-enrollment course credits might not transfer.)
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is recommended
- Applicants with lower GPAs may be considered based on professional experience and a statement of academic readiness.
International students:
Please contact us to determine eligibility. As a part-time, online degree, the BPS cannot issue visas.
HOW YOU’LL LEARN
BPS degree courses are Cornell undergraduate courses delivered online, primarily asynchronously.
The asynchronous format allows you to access lectures, readings, and assignments on your own schedule. Optional live sessions may be offered for discussion and networking.
Faculty collaborate closely with the School of Continuing Education and eCornell to develop and deliver high-quality, engaging online learning experiences.
Students may enter during a Fall or Spring semester and are expected to complete their degree within five years.


WHAT YOU’LL STUDY
The Bachelor of Professional Studies launches with a major in Organizations, Markets, and Society.
This major integrates business, policy, and social science perspectives and emphasizes data-driven approaches, problem-solving strategies, and applied learning.
All students will graduate with a curated digital portfolio and complete a community-engaged capstone project that bridges theory and practice.
