These online trainings are designed to help professional audiences from the fields of university extension, academia, public health, and business understand and implement Smarter Lunchrooms strategies in school food settings.
We offer 2 levels of online training:
- 2-hour self-paced introductory course
- 8-hour instructor-led TAP certification course
Prerequisite And Materials Requirement For Smarter Lunchrooms Tap Certification
In order to take the 8-hour Smarter Lunchrooms Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) Certification course, you must complete the prerequisite 2-hour course, Creating Smarter Lunchrooms.
The Smarter Lunchrooms Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) Certification course also requires the use of the Lunch Line Redesign training activity magnet set. The magnet set can be purchased under ‘Section Fees’ when enrolling into the course. If you already own or have access to this activity, you do not need to purchase a set at this time.
If you are working in-person as a team, please coordinate with your group before enrolling. One magnet set is sufficient for breakout groups of 6 to 8 people.

Creating Smarter Lunchrooms: This 2-hour self-paced course is an introduction to behavioral economics theory and application. Students have 30 days from date of enrollment to complete the course. Please note that the enrollment period for this course is closed at this time.
Smarter Lunchrooms Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) Certification: This 6-week instructor-led course provides 8-hours of in-depth training for professionals who will work with schools to enact Smarter Lunchrooms strategies. For more details about the Smarter Lunchrooms Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) Certification course, the Lunch Line Redesign training activity magnet set. Please note that the enrollment period for this course is closed at this time.
