Thank you for your interest in the Maternal and Infant Nutrition in the First 1,000 Days of Life Certificate Course. As of October 28, 2021, this course is no longer offered. Please contact eCornell Custom Programs and Services at cps_support@ecornell.com for more information.
course Description
This five-module course prepares professionals to speak knowledgeably and with confidence to women and answer questions about the “first 1,000 days” of a child’s life. To support a woman during this time, namely from conception to 2 years postpartum, it is important to be able to describe to her the diet, physical activity, and infant feeding practices that will best support her health and well-being and that of her infant. It is also important to understand the scientific rationale behind recommended practices and how a woman might best work toward meeting those recommendations.
Target Audience
Registered dietitian nutritionists, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, certified midwives, certified nurse-midwives, lactation consultants (IBCLC and CLC), and other health professionals who counsel pregnant and lactating women.
Accrediting Association
Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR): This self-study activity is approved for 10.0 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) by Cornell NutritionWorks, a CPE accredited provider (No. 2864) by the CDR of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
